Frankincense is a resin derived from the trunk of the Boswellia tree. That resin is later converted into oil. The tree grows in dry, mountainous regions of India, Africa, and the Middle East. Frankincense has been used in Ayurvedic medicine since ages. Frankincense’ use in treating oral health issues has been ancient and now is being accepted by big companies producing oral care products. The resin of frankincense helps in countering inflammatory diseases of the gut and providing relief. Studies have shown the positive effects of frankincense on ulcers of the gut.
